Diagnose · Large Gap (25+ points)

Your brand shows up in AI answers. Your URLs don't.

A visibility-to-citation gap of 25+ points means AI engines know who you are but rarely send people to your site. Three causes account for almost every large gap. Find the one that matches your scan results, then decide whether to fix it yourself or have us run the forensic version.

01

Your pages bury the answer below scroll fold

AI engines extract from passages, not full essays. If your post opens with a personal anecdote, a definition, or a long preamble, the engine cannot find a self-contained answer to lift. It mentions your brand because your domain ranks for the topic, but it cites a competitor whose first paragraph IS the answer.

This is likely you if

Your visibility score is healthy (40%+) but your citation rate is under 15%.

Fix it yourself (free)
  • Open your top 5 cited-by-no-one posts.
  • For each, rewrite the first paragraph as a 3-5 sentence answer capsule that stands alone, so a reader who only reads those sentences walks away with the answer.
  • Keep the personal anecdote, but move it below the capsule.
What the audit gives you

Audit will rank all your indexed pages by likely lift, identify which 5-10 are highest-leverage to rewrite, and give you the answer-capsule template specific to each query.

02

You have no structured data telling AI engines what answers what

Schema.org markup (FAQPage, HowTo, Article with mainEntityOfPage) is a high-confidence signal AI engines use to map a query to a specific passage on your site. Without it, the engine has to guess from prose. Sites with the same content but proper schema get cited 2-3x more often on the same queries.

This is likely you if

Your robots.txt allows AI bots, your content is indexed, but specific factual queries still cite competitors.

Fix it yourself (free)
  • Pick your 3 most cited-by-no-one posts.
  • Identify the 3-5 questions each post answers.
  • Add JSON-LD FAQPage schema with those Q&A pairs at the bottom of the post (or in a <script type='application/ld+json'> tag in <head>).
  • Validate at https://validator.schema.org before publishing.
What the audit gives you

Audit will inspect every cited-by-no-one URL, score current schema completeness, and hand you a per-URL JSON-LD diff (current → recommended) ready to paste.

03

Your brand is not yet a recognized entity

AI engines weight cited sources by entity recognizability. If your Person, Organization, or Product is not in Wikidata, has no Wikipedia mention, and lacks consistent author bios across LinkedIn / GitHub / Crunchbase / your domain, the engine treats your URL as a low-trust citation candidate. Even with perfect on-page structure, low entity authority caps your citation rate at the visibility floor.

This is likely you if

Your visibility AND citation rate are both low (under 25%) despite well-structured content. The bottleneck is reputation, not structure.

Fix it yourself (free)
  • Audit your author bio across LinkedIn, GitHub, X / Twitter, your domain, and any guest-post bylines.
  • Reconcile to a single canonical bio with consistent name spelling, headline, and link to your domain.
  • Add Person + Organization JSON-LD to your homepage with sameAs links pointing at every external profile.
  • If you have any press mentions, link them from your /about page so the entity graph is discoverable.
What the audit gives you

Audit includes a full entity-graph diagnostic: which sameAs links are missing, which profiles are stale, what one Wikipedia / Wikidata / Crunchbase mention would unlock, and a 3-month plan to close the gap.

None of these match?

Two more shapes can produce a 25+ point gap.

  • Your robots.txt or middleware blocks AI crawlers. The free scan catches this in 60 seconds. If GPTBot or ClaudeBot or PerplexityBot returns 403, no amount of structure will help.
  • Your content was published in the last 30 days. AI engines lag indexed Web by 2-12 weeks for citation eligibility. New pages are correctly invisible, not broken.
